Fichtelberg – Oberwiesenthal Skiresort

This small ski resort on the eastern border of Germany and the Czech Republic, together with the Klínovec ski resort on the other side of the Czech mountain, forms a small ski area. Overall, both ski resorts are not very large, as they consist of forest paths that provide a comfortable skiing experience. However, one downside is that the overall slope difficulty is between blue and red, and there are many T-bars, which are not very friendly to beginners. Additionally, this ski resort offers night skiing.

How to get there:
If you have a driver’s license, it is recommended to drive there as there are convenient parking facilities available.
If you don’t have a car, you can take a bus from Dresden or Leipzig to Chemnitz, then transfer to bus 210 at Annaburg which goes directly to Oberwiesenthal twice a day.
There is also a shuttle bus that runs hourly from the cable car station to Klínovec ski resort.

Skiware rental:

There are many ski rental shops in the town where you can compare prices and rent equipment. I rented my equipment from the shop located underneath the Alpine Eck restaurant. I recommend arriving early to avoid the crowds of skiers.

The overall difficulty is moderate, and the ski runs are a bit narrow. There are a lot of T-Bars, so people who don’t like to use them might find it a bit uncomfortable.
